A collection of files to 3D print 1/32 scale Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway horse box to Diagram 108.
Additionally, you will require buffer shanks, Tow hook & spring, brake cylinder and lever (all from NSR Milk van), Slater's Mansell wheels and vacuum pipe castings.
Models
3D Model
This is one of the sides of the horsebox. You will require two of these, one the mirror image of the other.
3D Model
The groom's end of the box. The handrail can be formed from 0.9mm wire to run parallel to the line of the steps. Not all the boxes had steps at the end, so if you wish you can remove these.
3D Model
The horse compartment end of the box was plain, although some had the break flag gear at this end.
3D Model
The holes were place to allow a steel underffame to be attached, otherwise can be ignored.
3D Model
Interior partition should need no explanation.
3D Model
The roof is fitted with the lamp and ventilation cover at the groom compartment end.
3D Model
No description required.
3D Model
Simply glued to the roof at the compartment end.
3D Model
The subframe uses a system of mortice joints for the insertion of the W-irons. The cut-out close to the centre of the solebar is to locate the brake gear.
3D Model
Make four copies of the W-iron assembly. My thanks to Markus Neeser for the creation of the leaf spring in particular. The tongue of the W-iron is fixed into the slot on the solebar. The holes in the W-irons will accomodate Slater's 'top hat' wheel bearings. I suggest you print these parts with an 0.2mm nozzle for detail.
3D Model
Make two copies of this part. They are glued inside the solebar. Using a piece of 1.5mm rod for alignment, line them up with the holes in the brake gear then glue in place.
3D Model
You will require two versions of this, one a mirror image of the other. They are located in the solebar slot of the subframe, but are probably better glued or screwed directly to the wagon floor.
3D Model
Two copies required. A mirror image for the other side of the vehicle. Line up with the holes in the solebar at the compartment end. If you wish, you can secure them with 0.8mm (1/32nd") rivets.
3D Model
Early horseboxes only had hand levers on one side. Later they were fitted to both sides of the vehicle. You will require a length of 1.5mm rod for the brake linkage, long enough to carry the brake levers and extend to the other side of the vehicle.
3D Model
This should be self explanatory. It is fitted at the horse end of the vehicle, over two of the projecting bolt heads.
